Swimming
Our members range from those learning to swim from scratch up to channel swimmers. Our swim sessions consist of pool-based training and open water swimming as per the club strategy below.
NTC supports a mix of:
- Lane swimming
- Peer-to-peer learning and feedback from some of our experienced swimmers of which some have even swam at national level
- Masters Classes
- Video analysis group sessions where for approx. £20 you receive video footage of your swimming so you can see how you swim for yourself and use that for reflective learning alone or with your coach.
- Ad-hoc open water swim such as lakes, sea and winter/cold water swimming
NTC has collaborative relationships with a number of credible swim coaches and partners such as:
- Swimsmooth (Paul Newsome) - this is BTFs favoured swim training methodology. Thanks to their innovative GURU technology they can even teach you to swim via your Garmin/Apple watch!
- Endurance Peak - Stuart Fisher and his team coach lane swimming in Nantwich pool on Friday mornings in a dedicated lane. Many of our members have progressed from non-swimmers to going on their triathlon training camps in Majorca!
- Scale Swimming (Alex Thurston) - there is a club member discount code for these useful waterproof swimming session cards. We have a sample of the collection for people to try out before they buy. Alex is a current British and former European and World masters swimming record holder, as well as a lecturer in sport management at Loughborough University..
- SwimMastery (Tracey Baumann) - Coming soon but expected to include remote video analysis and feedback under the methodology of:
"Using the latest research in body mechanics, physics, and neuroscience we focus the swimmers’ attention on specific cues that allow the joints to move safely and effectively. As we synchronise connected body parts, we create whole body movements which allow access to larger muscle groups. This results in greater speed and efficiency."
For many it can feel a step out of one's own comfort zone to review swimming on film. But the willingness to learn, take feedback and practice is important in what is a very iterative life-long learning process. At NTC we try to put the member at the centre of their learning journey so that they are always working on what is relevant to them.
